Luke Detraz is the FOunder of Field & faith, Helping Men Become Who God Designed Them to Be

New Book Is officially out!

The War For Men

I wrote The War For Men because I’ve watched too many men - including myself at different points - learn how to function without ever really being whole. We get good at showing up. Good at staying busy. Good at carrying weight. But underneath it, there’s often stuff we never dealt with like wounds we buried, anger we justified, shame we never named, habits we keep feeding because they help us escape for a minute. And over time, that kind of living doesn’t just wear you down… it starts shaping who you become.

This book isn’t me trying to “teach men how to be men” from some pedestal. It’s me being honest about the war I’ve seen up close from the war inside a man’s mind, the war over his identity, the war over his home, his purity, his confidence, his calling, his ability to lead without bleeding on everybody around him. I share pieces of my own story because I don’t want you to feel like you’re the only one who’s struggled, or the only one who’s tried to muscle through life while quietly falling apart. I’ve learned the hard way that unresolved pain always leaks. If it doesn’t get healed, it gets handed down.

What I hope this book does is help you slow down enough to tell the truth, probably for the first time to yourself and to God. Not the polished version. The real version. The parts you’ve hidden, the parts you’ve feared, the parts you’ve tried to outgrow without actually confronting. Because the goal isn’t to become a tougher man who can take more hits. The goal is to become a free man that is steady, grounded, courageous, and most importantly whole. The kind of man who can love well, lead well, and build something that truly lasts.

About Luke Detraz

Luke Detraz is a pastor, husband, father, speaker, and ministry-builder that is passionate about helping people discover identity, healing, and purpose. Growing up without a father, Luke knows the weight of trying to become a man without a blueprint. That journey has shaped his calling of restoring identity, breaking generational cycles, and guiding young adults into a life anchored in Christ.

Luke founded Field & Faith, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to mentoring and empowering young people, especially those who are fatherless or navigating life without strong guidance. Through hands-on experiences, outdoor activities, and community-centered discipleship, Field & Faith teaches young men and women how to serve, how to lead, and how to live with purpose.

Under Field & Faith, Luke developed Forged (a discipleship movement for men) and Refined (its companion for young women). Both programs focus on identity, character, and spiritual formation, blending biblical teaching with real-world mentorship.

He lives in Arizona with his wife and four children, where he spends his time in the outdoors, mentoring, and helping young adults discover who they were created to be.
